Starting off our 2024 Apollo City eScooter review with a brief overview. Apollo Scooters always surprise us, this time releasing a convenient commuter’s option, the City. For starters, the ride is incredibly comfortable, thanks to a spacious deck and superb suspension; more of which we discuss in our “design & ergonomics section”.
Much like many of their models, this variant also claims an IP54 waterproof rating, protecting against dust ingress and sustained water blasts. We were especially surprised with the power packed into this scooter, which we cover below. All in all, a very welcome addition and a cost-effective solution for commuters & casual riders alike. So without further delay, lets begin our Apollo City review for 2024, starting off with speed, power & distance.

Switching our 2024 Apollo City review onto speed, power & distance; for which this magnificent model meets all expectations. Quietly powered by a 600W brushless motor with a peak output of 800W, this eScooter soars to speeds of up to 25 mp/h. We were fairly impressed with such speeds, considering many similarly priced models often sacrifice performance for price. The Apollo also boasts awesome acceleration, capable of reaching 0-15 mp/h in just 4.1 seconds.
Riders should expect an average range of approx. 28 miles per charge; which should prove more than enough for most rider requirements. Feel free to choose from 3 gear modes, each offering varying levels of speed & power. Alongside this, riders can also tackle inclines of up to 15 degrees, thanks to a terrific level of torque. We believe this remarkable range and power is partially in thanks to its brilliant battery cells; sourced from Dynavolt, globally renowned manufacturer of electric motorbike batteries.
How fast does it go?
This model claims a top speed of approx. 25 mp/h. However, please note that variables such as rider weight, terrain, incline, weather, etc. will impact overall performance.
Recommended age/weight?
Apollo Scooters recommend the City to riders between the ages of 18 to 60 years. This is likely due to the sheer power & acceleration offered by this model & is clearly designed for experienced riders. In terms of recommended loads, this model supports weights of up to 265 lbs (120 kg) whilst weighing just 39 lbs (18 kg); approx. 6.8 times its own weight.

Bringing our 2024 Apollo City eScooter review onto battery life & charging. For starters, the 48V 13.2aH battery contains lithium-ion cells sourced from Dynavolt; global leaders in manufacturing high-performance batteries for motorcycles. This battery is a strong factor in the overall performance of this model, offering enough for rides of up to 28 miles whilst still powering that might 800W peak motor.
This in turn allows for the awesome acceleration, speed and distance we covered earlier. This battery remains fully integrated within the frame, offering protection yet reducing mobility. This means that instead of charging just the battery, riders must charge directly from the frame. This shouldn’t prove an issue for most; alongside also protecting the battery against any bumps or harsh hits that could potentially cause damage.
How long does it take to charge?
Whilst offering potent performance, the Apollo City falls a little short on charging; offering a lacklustre time of 8 hours. Whilst this is an above average time for such a cost-effective scooter, it’s still a fairly long time. However, this should still prove fast enough for most commuters. Furthermore, an optional fast charger is available, halving the charge time to just 4 hours.
Battery protection & safety
Each of Apollo’s model boasts a smart power management system, protecting against a number of failures or faults. This includes protection against short circuits, over-current, overcharging, over-discharging, temperature resistance, under-voltage, etc. Alongside this, the City also claims a waterproof rating of IP56, protecting it from dust ingress and high-pressure water blasts. Lastly, keeping the battery integrated within the frame can protect against environmental damage.
How long will the battery last for?
Lithium-ion batteries typically last around 500-1000+ charge cycles before any issues arise. As a premium quality lithium-ion battery (sourced from Dynavolt, a leading supplier), riders should expect the latter of 1000+ charges. Even if you used and charged this folding eScooter on a daily basis, it would still take 2-3 years to reach this point.
Furthermore, the Battery Management System protects against overvoltage, overcurrent and many other common faults; extending battery life. Lastly, riders can easily source spares & replacements from Apollo’s spare parts section, or contact their 7-days a week support team.

Shifting gears of our 2024 Apollo City review to design & ergonomics. As previously mentioned, the spacious deck offers ample room for manoeuvrability. Dual spring suspension results in a sensationally smooth ride, eating up otherwise big bumps and shocks with ease. 8.5″ pneumatic air-filled tires also aid in absorbing shocks, whilst offering greater grip and control. Whilst air-filled tires are still susceptible to punctures, these still remain much cheaper and easier to replace than solid rubber tires.
The fully folding frame allows riders to easily pack/unpack and store their ride, wherever they go. This further improves its role as a electric scooter for commuters. Boasting triple brakes with regenerative braking, riders can convert kinetic braking energy back into battery power; helping you go that extra mile. Unfortunately, we were unable to find any Apollo mobile app page, or evidence of Bluetooth support. However, their website does state that the ‘Ludicrous’ model features a dedicated app & phone mount; although this is only compatible for iOS devices.
Build quality and ease of use
Bringing our Apollo City review onto build quality & ease of use. For starters, the overall quality of this model is superb; further featuring a forged aluminium frame, greatly enhancing durability and maintaining a suitable weight. Everything functions as intended, all lighting works & remains highly visible. The design is remarkably robust, capable of withstanding crashes and hits without compromising structural integrity.
It’s clear that Apollo have spared to expense regarding build quality, utilising dual spring suspension, folding frame, triple braking, IP54 waterproofing and much more. In fact, they place such confidence in quality control, they even offer up to 2 years warranty on all official purchases; keeping you protecting throughout this time, should any faults arise. The LCD display is conveniently situated on the handlebars, clearly displaying speed, distance, battery life and more. Riders can also use this display to enable cruise control, giving your hand a rest from accelerating.

Switching our 2024 Apollo City review onto arguably the most important section; safety & usability on the road. As we all know, rider safety is paramount, wherever you are. Thankfully, this model incorporates a variety of features to help guarantee this.
Starting off with lighting, the City boasts bright LED front, rear & deck lighting; allowing you to remain seen whilst also staying stylish. This is especially important when riding on darker days; ensuring that you can still see whilst also alerting roadside traffic to your existence.
The previously mentioned dual spring suspension soaks up harsh hits, helping maintain rider control and keep you on track. Triple braking is also another essential extra, allowing riders to make sharp, sudden stops at a moments notice. On the topic of brakes, the rear drum brake requires much less maintenance than many alternatives.
Due to these fantastic features, we believe the Apollo City perfectly suitable for roadside use. However, we insist that riders wear adequate safety gear, such as a high-visibility jacket, helmet, gloves, etc.
