Calling all commuters & casual riders alike; Segway have restocked their exciting mid-spec eScooter, featuring a fantastic futuristic design. In fact, this model has won multiple awards since its release, including the Design Award in 2017 & CES 2020 Innovation Awards. How fast does it go?
With a built-in 300W motor, the Ninebot Air T15 can reach speeds of up to 12.4 mp/h (20 km/h). Alongside this, riders can select from 4 speed modes, each offering varying degrees of power & top speed. However, please note that variables such as rider weight, terrain, incline, etc. will affect overall performance.
- Pedestrian Mode: 3.7 mph (6 km/h)
- Energy-saving Mode: 6.2 mph (10 km/h)
- Standard Mode: 9.3 mph (15 km/h)
- Sport Mode: 12.4 mph (20 km/h)
What age/weight is it suitable for?
Segway state that the recommended age is between 14-60 years, which makes sense since this is clearly not a kids eScooter. They also state that optimal weight lies between 66.1-220.5 lbs (30-100 kg); with the Air T15 unable to support any greater than 100 kg. In fairness, this is still an impressive weight, especially considering its own weight of just 10.5 kg. Lastly, the recommended rider height is between 4’3″ – 6’6″ (130-200 cm).
What is the range/distance?
Max. range of approx. 9.3 miles (15 km), however on average most riders should expect around 7.5 miles (12 km). This is drawn from a typical range tested while riding full power with a 165 lbs (74 kg) rider on a flat surface.
Can it be used offroad?
Not recommended – It’s clear that from the design & wheel type, the Ninebot Air T15 is best suited to roadside use.
Does it lose power uphill?
Riders should have no issues conquering inclines of up to 15 degrees with minimal power loss, however any greater inclines result in a significant loss in power. Alongside this, heavier riders/payloads will see a clear impact in hill climbing capacity.

How long does it take to charge?
The Li-ion battery has a nominal capacity of 4000 mAh & max. charging voltage of 42 VDC, resulting in an average charge time of approx. 4 hours. As the battery is integrated within, riders must charge from the frame.
How long will the battery last for?
On average, Lithium-ion batteries last between 500-1000+ charge cycles, varying depending on quality. As an established manufacturer, we can expect somewhere between 600-800+ charge cycles. For some perspective, this would still take approx. 2-3+ years to reach.
The Ninebot Air T15 further features a Battery Management System, protecting against common electrical faults. This includes protection against over-heating, short circuit, over-current, over-charge, etc. Lastly, Segway offer limited warranty on all official purchases, keeping you covered should any faults arise.

The aluminium frame is clearly fairly robust, showing minimal damage & no denting/warping from a few hits.
The Battery Management System (BMS) is a welcome addition, protecting against electric faults and ensuring longer battery life. To attest to build quality & strength, the Ninebot Air T15 supports up to 100 kg whilst weighing just 10.5 kg; just over 9.5 times its own weight.
