Introducing the exciting Zing E8, a fun yet functional kids eScooter from Segway. When your kids friends see them cruising around of one of these, it’ll feel like they’re cruising in their supercar. Featuring customisable under-lit lighting to give them a real racer look or gentle cruiser; however you feel, choose a colour and match it. Although not up to par with bigger models, we were still fairly impressed with the performance offered; especially for such a reasonable price.
Parents can use this superb kids electric scooter to keep their precious offspring busy for a while. Alongside this, it should also last quite some time, thanks to premium quality materials & high supplier standards. Segway Ninebot are also one of the leading electric vehicle brands, on the scene since the near beginning & one of the first mainstream PEV companies. As such, we’ve come to expect a certain standard from Segway, which they only seem happy to deliver. So those with children aged between 6-12 years worthy of a Christmas or birthday present, this one’s for you.

Switching our 2023 Ninebot Zing E8 review onto speed, power & distance. Now as a electric kids scooter, this section isn’t too much of a deal breaker, as many parents simply want their children safe. Although many may be pleasantly surprised at the performance offered by such a cost-effective kids eScooter. Rest assured, your younglings won’t suffer any seriously high-speed collisions or tumbles. Of course that’s all relative to their age, which is why Segway have included 3 riding modes to choose from.
First timers & beginners can stroll along in safe mode; restricting riders to a max. speed of 6.2 mp/h (10 km/h) & can accelerate through pressing the throttle lightly. Novices and above can enjoy cruise mode, allowing for cruising at 8.7 mp/h with no need for the throttle; riders can simply kick to accelerate and off they go.
Turbo mode offers the same top speed, however is operated via throttle. This top speed of 8.7 mp/h is thanks to a 200W motor, also allowing the Zing E8 kids eScooter to tackle inclines of up to 7 degrees. The 55.08Wh battery gives riders a range of up to 6.2 miles (10 km) off a single charge. However, please note variables such as terrain, rider weight, inclines, etc. will affect overall performance.

Recommended age/weight?
Segway state that this model is recommended for children between the ages of 6-12 years. However, this is still a seriously strong scooter, withstanding weights of up to 50 kg (110 lbs), the average age for a 13-14 year old. As such, perhaps your now teenager will take great delight in pushing it to its limit after all those years.
What is the range/distance?
Average range of 6.2 miles (10 km). Variables such as rider weight, inclines, terrain, etc. will impact overall performance.

Moving our 2023 Zing E8 kids eScooter review onto battery life & charging. As the battery is fully integrated into the frame, riders can charge it through the charging port on the deck. Thanks to this integration, the battery claims additional protection against impact & elements.
This 55.08 Wh battery offers approx. 40 minutes of battery life per charge, or around 6.2 miles (10 km); perfect for short walks and recreation. However, a relatively long time of 4 hours is required to fully charge, which is fairly weak considering the small battery.
However, we believe this reduced battery life is due to a number of additional features, such as under-deck lighting. Although, regenerative braking is another feature also offering slightly extended battery life. These regenerative brakes operate through converting kinetic stopping energy into power for the battery.
Alongside this, the Zing E8 utilises a Smart Battery Management System (BMS), which we cover below. All in all, whilst a bit of a chore to charge, this should provide enough entertainment for your children… Or you, if you’re small enough.

This model utilises a Smart Battery Management System (BMS); protecting against overcharge/discharge, overheating, short-circuit, etc. Many models these days must adhere to strict fire & electrical safety regulations, which we’re sure is no different for Segway. How long will the battery last for?
In terms of ride time, 40 mins single charge. For overall battery life, expect approx. 600-800+ charge cycles before any issues arise; the typical lifespan of a lithium-ion battery. You can also utilise Segway’s repair service, offering fairly priced repairs for all types of model.

Bringing our 2023 Ninebot Zing E8 review to design & ergonomics. We were again surprised with the innovative & quality design offered for such a reasonable price. Segway utilise aerospace grade aluminium alloy for the body; resulting remarkably strong & lightweight kids eScooter, weighing just 7.9 kg (17.4 lbs).
The Zing E8 is clearly designed with children in mind, featuring a low pedal design; meaning the deck is only 10 cm (3.9″) above ground, keeping a low centre of gravity and enhancing stability/control. Furthermore, the battery is also placed within the footboard. This also adds to a lower centre of gravity, whilst keeping the battery safe.
Speaking of, Segway have utilised anti-slip material throughout the deck, offering a much steadier & safer riding experience. The same material is also used for the tires, granting greater grip and control to the rider. The handle bars were comfortable & fashioned from TPR (Thermo Plastic Rubber), also offering anti-skid traction. There’s so much anti-skid, it will be like your child is glued to the scooter.
Whether it’s for your brilliant boy or gorgeous girl, Segway offer both pink & blue colour choices. Little & big riders alike can quickly and easily fold their eScooter. The Zing E8 kids eScooter further features a folding pedal, allowing for hands-free folding and packing; making this model perfect for quick trips to the park and alike. Simply fold it up, pop it into your car and enjoy the drive home.

Suitable for use as a regular scooter?
Yes – once out of battery expect them to start manually scooting alongside you… Not so fast anymore!
Does it connect to your smartphone via app or Bluetooth?
Yes & no – Whilst there is no Bluetooth functionality, Segway offer mobile app support. This mobile app allows riders to quickly & easily diagnose or customise their ride. Feel free to check out the Segway-Ninebot app on either Apple or Android.
Build quality and ease of use
As we touched on before, the build quality of this model is exceptionally high. Segway have spared no expense, utilising aerospace-grade aluminium alloy for the body; resulting in a remarkably robust yet lightweight ride. Premium quality lithium-ion cells are used for the battery, even if the battery itself isn’t very big. Flat-free tires are further featured, meaning that punctures & burst tires are a thing of a past. As they’re solid rubber, parents will no longer endure pestering to change tires, these are completely maintenance free.
Cruise control was another higher-end feature we didn’t expect to see, scoring this model a few points. In terms of ease of use, this kids eScooter offers a surprising amount of functionality. Your child can choose from 3 riding modes, each offering varying power & suits a range of skill levels. The sensitive thumb throttle varies in responsiveness depending on riding mode, ensuring they stay safe & at the right right. A low centre of gravity in a sports movement means greater control and balance, regardless of the rider. We’re sure your children will cheer at the sight of their superb new Zing E8 kids eScooter.

Moving our 2023 Ninebot Zing E8 review onto arguably the most important section; safety & usability on the road. As we all know, keeping your children safe is of paramount importance to any parent. Rest assured, this model includes a host of safety features to keep your little riders out of harms way. For starters, the battery management system protects against any electrical faults, alongside user faults such as over-charging, etc.
The 40mm spring damper shock absorption aids in eating bumps and potholes. Coupled with impact-absorbing tubeless tires, the Zing E8 electric kids scooter actually offers a surprisingly smooth ride. Whilst this suspension helps with small bumps and holes, we recommend avoiding any big bumps.
The previously mentioned anti-slip material is used throughout the design; thanks to this, riders have little issue keeping their feet on the deck. Alongside this, they also use it on the handle grips, protecting against slipping and potential accidents. Furthermore, your child can quickly & easily brake on demand, with 3 different brakes to choose from; front, rear magnetic & foot.
A reflective strip is placed on the rear of the scooter, ensuring your child stays visible and enhancing safety. This is coupled with the unique under-deck lighting, further improving visibility. Whilst certainly suitable for roadside use on smooth & even terrain, we still don’t recommend letting your child ride around on public roads; this kids eScooter is very much suited to private lands & public parks. Lastly, when heavily recommend wearing high-visibility jackets, helmets, gloves, etc. when riding on dark days.
Is the Ninebot Zing E8 waterproof?
