Speed, Power & Distance

Segway Ninebot Electric Scooter Models

High-tier eScooter Models

With a variety of models between them, the speed, power and distance of these electric mopeds and scooters vary respectively. As such, we’ve decided to keep it simple and categorise with low, medium and high-spec models. Starting off with electric scooters; top end models (E125/E200P) also offer both impressive maximum speeds and ranges alike. The E125 model offers a maximum speed of approx. 46 mp/h (74 km/h), alongside a mighty 74 mile (119 km) range.

Next up is the E200P, offering reported speeds of up to 62 mp/h (99.7 km/h) and a seriously impressive 124 mile (199.5 km) range; however it is unconfirmed whether or not this range is achievable without dual battery replacement. Furthermore, there are reports that the E200P offers a remarkable 0 to 25 mp/h (40 km/h) in under 3 seconds; although we’ve seen conflicting reports of 0 to 24 mp/h in 4 seconds… Either way, expect some seriously speedy acceleration!

Mid-tier eScooter Models

Moving on to the mid-tier eScooter models, the E90 & E100; Both of these models reportedly offer a similar range of around 62 miles (99.7 km), more than enough for many commuters and casual riders. However, those looking for a longer ride will have better luck with the E200P and it’s dual battery replacement. The E90 gives riders the chance to cruise at a fairly speedy 34 mp/h (54.7 km/h), which is actually on par with a number of speed limits in towns and cities.

Next comes the E100, offering just a few more miles per hour, at 37 mp/h (59.5 km/h), still fairly impressive. On the other hand, we are still waiting for confirmation on prices, so whether or not these speeds offered are worth it is another story; we’ll just have to wait and see, however we believe that both the E90 and E100 will sell for very similar prices.

E80C Low-tier eScooter Models

Lastly, allow us to introduce the lower-end electric Scooter model, the E80C. We believe that this electric scooter model is Segway’s cheapest option available, perfect for cost-effective commuters. As the E80C is powered by an outdated lead acid battery and offering reduced performance to rest of the models. With the rest of the models running on modern lithium-ion batteries, we think it’s safe to say this is the cheapest model offered by Ninebot.

However, that’s not to say the power and performance offered by this model is less than ample for many riders. Expect a reported top speed of approx. 31 miles per hour (49.9 km/h) and a maximum range of around 56 miles (90 km); more than enough for many short rides and commutes. Unfortunately for all models mentioned, (including mopeds) information such as charging time and battery life is unconfirmed. As such, information you see below is a rough estimate based on range divided by top speed.

Segway Ninebot eScooter colours

Segway Ninebot Electric Moped Models

With 5 confirmed models available for the eMoped, commuters and riders really are spoiled for choice. However, we were unable to find any specific model names, outside of the top-end C80. Although offering less power and performance, these eMoped models still share a number of similar smart features; such features include the same keyless unlocking and anti-theft/GPS tracking technology, alongside a swappable lithium-ion battery for extending your range. Whilst we only have the name of one model (C80), we can confirm that Segway-Ninebot will offer three seperate models; all with top speeds of 15 miles per hour and varying ranges.

Furthermore, each electric moped model is powered via modern lithium-ion battery packs, allowing for ranges of 24, 37 and 46 miles. The difference between models is still unconfirmed, however we imagine that they offer the varying ranges mentioned, alongside longer battery life, although top speed is reported as 15 mp/h (24 km/h) for all models. As well as this, these electric mopeds also include pedals for a manual power boost, also helping qualify it as a beefy electric bike whilst retaining a traditional moped aesthetic.

Lightweight & highly customisable!

In comparison to many other mopeds and scooters on the market, the Ninebot eMoped is extremely light, reportedly weighing in at just 121 pounds, light enough for most to lift. Riders should also note that these electric mopeds are apparently highly customizable, with over 4000 possible colour combinations, perfect for suiting all manner of styles; choose from body panel to seat cushion colours and more.

Segway Ninebot Electric Scooter Lifestyle

Battery Life & Charging

Please note, these results are estimates reached from top speed divided by range, helping give us an average battery life. Currently, there is no official statement from Segway-Ninebot regarding battery life and charging for these electric moped and scooter models. Furthermore, factors such as rider weight, terrain, incline, etc. Whilst also affecting performance, we are unable to factor these in to our calculations. However, most models for both the electric moped and scooter feature modern lithium-ion batteries, which are known for their superior performance over lead acid based batteries. Check back after Segway-Ninebot unveil these models at CES 2020 for updated information.

How long does it take to charge?

Currently, there is no official statement from Segway-Ninebot regarding charge time for these electric moped and scooter models. Please check this page after CES 2020 for updated information on this section.

Battery protection & safety

Again, whilst there is no confirmed information on battery protection and safety, there are reports of powerful disc brakes on the scooter and moped; further aiding in safe stopping from high speeds. Alongside this, there are also reports that both the electric scooter and moped models offer at least some level of water resistance. We believe this is more than likely the case, as it is very foolish to introduce a road-worthy electric vehicle without some degree of protection and water resistance. Furthermore, there are likely a number of rules and regulations that Segway-Ninebot must adhere to prior to releasing these to the road. Stick around and check back on this page after CES 2020 for updated information on this topic.

How long will the battery last for?

Please note: All speeds mentioned are estimates at constant maximum speed. As there is no official statement from Segway-Ninebot regarding the battery life for any of these electric scooter and moped models, we’ve decided to produce a rough estimate based on approx. range divided by top speed.

  1. Top-end eScooter models:
    E200P –
    Approx. 2 hours
    E125 – Approx. 1 hour 30 mins
  2. Standard eScooter models:
Note: Current reports state that both models offer the same range.
    E100 – Approx. 1 hour 35 mins
    E90 – Approx. 1 hour 45 mins
  3. Low-end eScooter model:
    E80C –
    Approx. 1 hour 40 mins
  4. All Segway eMoped models:
    Note:
    Approx. 1 hour 30 (24 m range), 2 hours 20 (37 m range) & 3 hours (46 m range).

Design and Ergonomics

Segway Ninebot eScooter

In terms of design and ergonomics, the electric scooter incorporates a variety of cool features and custom colour choices. All Segway Ninebot eScooter models have the same design, however speed and power vary depending on model type. Aesthetically, these models all look suitably stylish and what you’d expect from a scooter. A large seat trunk is further featured, capable of holding large helmets and more. Of course, a kickstand, mirrors and LED lights are also included. There are reports of over 4000 colour combinations to pick from, choose from seat and body colour to side panels and more. Mix and match to suit all manner of styles with this seriously sleek electric scooter.

There are comparisons that somewhat resemble the MQi series scooter; however the Segway models just look beefier, alongside different design choices on lights, mirrors, a huge number of colour choices and more. In terms of ergonomics, commuters and riders will simply adore the interchangeable lithium-ion battery feature on some of the top-end models; enabling riders to practically double their ride time or distance. Super efficient for those wishing for a longer journey and the potential to go even further with more batteries, should Segway-Ninebot allow individual sales of said batteries.

Segway Ninebot eMoped colours

Segway Ninebot eMoped

Moving on to the Segway electric moped, also available in a huge number of colour choices; these electric moped models all feature manual pedals for a manual power boost, also adding an authentic vintage moped aesthetic. These pedals also help it to qualify as a “smart electric bike” in some areas, should that benefit you. Furthermore, the Segway Ninebot eMoped is extremely light, weighing just 121 lbs (55 kg); seriously light in comparison to conventional motorised mopeds. As previously mentioned, both the eMoped and scooter feature GPS tracking, keyless unlocking mobile and a handful of other cool design features we’ve talked about.

There are a number of models to choose from, all with the same top speed of 15 mp/h and varying ranges. Truly a great way to get around and likely considerably cheaper than the Segway eScooter; however there is no interchangeable battery option and the performance is drastically decreased in comparison to the scooter. As such, those seeking a more cost-effective commute for short distances would benefit most from the Segway-Ninebot electric moped. In case you were wondering who would win eScooter vs eMoped, it really is a no-contest; the scooter offers significantly improved performance, whereas the moped the only advantage the moped has is it’s price tag. However, that’s not to say that the eMoped doesn’t offer ample performance.

What material is it made from?

Currently, there is no official statement from Segway-Ninebot regarding the materials used in the manufacturing of these electric moped and scooter models. However, it’s safe to assume that lightweight alloys, plastics and rubber is used in the production process. Please check this page after CES 2020 for updated information on this section.

Can it be used as a regular moped/scooter?

Thanks to the pedals featured, the electric moped model does function like a regular, albeit archaic moped. However, the eScooter requires a charged battery to function, much like a conventional scooter requires petrol; so technically yes it does operate like a conventional scooter.

Does it connect to your smartphone via app or Bluetooth?

Yes, from what we’ve seen and the statements released by Segway-Ninebot, both the eMoped and eScooter offer mobile app functionality. One such example is the keyless unlocking feature, allowing riders to unlock/start their electric scooter or moped with their mobile phone. We also believe that the app allows riders to run diagnostics on the status of their bike, alongside anti-theft GPS tracking to help you locate your ride. Check out the Segway mobile app for Android or iOS.

Build quality and ease of use

As with all Segway-Ninebot products, a high standard of quality is likely placed throughout the manufacturing process. Furthermore, these models likely must adhere to strict road safety and production regulations, before they are considered legal and road worthy. In terms of ease of use, we imagine these eScooter and eMoped models to operate like any other, akin to riding a bike. Simply sit on the seat, push up the kickstand, start the engine, maintain your balance and off you go. Of course, we always insist that you wear your helmet when riding, even if local laws don’t state that you must. Lastly, most (if not all) countries will require a valid drivers license for you to drive on the road. Consult the laws and regulations of your country/area and see the legalities behind riding one of these.

Safety and usability on the road

Starting with usability on the road, it’s safe to suppose that all eMoped and eScooter models are roadworthy. All of the eScooter models offer a top speed that exceeds the average national speed limit in most towns (30 mp/h). Furthermore, both models include bright, light detecting LED headlights to help riders stay seen and safe when riding at night, turning on at night automatically. With reports stating moderate water resistance offered, we believe it’s safe to assume that the interior electrical components are suitably protected; however we await to see whether Segway-Ninebot will confirm this.

We also believe that a high priority is placed on safety of both the rider and the contents within the bike. Furthermore, road traffic and production regulations likely insist that these models adhere to strict safety regulations. In truth, would Segway-Ninebot really prepare release a road vehicle that bursts into flames or fries the battery in moderate rain? We’ll just have to wait and find out, come launch day!

Are the Segway Ninebot Moped & Scooter models waterproof?

Currently, we were unable to locate an official statement from Segway-Ninebot regarding waterproofing for these electric moped and scooter models. However, we have seen reports that both models offer moderate water resistance; we also believe that these models must meet a number of safety regulations for suitability on the road. As such, we should expect a safe ride with suitably protected electrical components. Please check this page after CES 2020 for updated information on this section.

Segway Ninebot Apex Electric Motorbike

Segway-Ninebot Concept Motorbike “Ninebot Apex”

On a different note, Segway-Ninebot have also made an exciting development; a concept electric motorcycle that reportedly offers top speeds of up to 200 km/h (124 mph). Branded the “Ninebot Apex”, Segway haven’t stated any future production plans for it at the moment, although its existence clearly demonstrates Ninebot’s road worthy capabilities. Design wise, the Apex is suitably stylish and certainly on par with a number of performance motorbikes available. Whether or not this will reach the market any time soon is speculative, however we are very excited for what the future holds.

Restrictions and availability

Currently unavailable, although we speculate that they will ship worldwide. To release to the public market 2020, Segway-Ninebot will unveil these models officially, alongside offering more information throughout CES 2020 (Jan 7th-10th). Lastly, ensure that you check back after CES for updated information on these awesome rides.
