The ECOTRIC 20″ is one of those rare, full size electric mountain bikes still offering a fully folding frame. These designs are harder to come by these days, as many folding eBike models adopt a smaller, urban-use design. However, the ECOTRIC 20″ unapologetically boasts a beastly design, with 20″ fat tires offering riders greater grip and control on a number of tricky terrains. Alongside this, the super responsive front & rear disc brakes further offer riders enhanced control during sharp and sudden stops.
Offering offroad functionality and hill climbing capacity, the ECOTRIC perfectly suits use in both urban and country environments; adapted for both roadside and offroad use. All in all, the ECOTRIC certainly is a well built yet cost-effective electric mountain bike packed full of features. Moving on to the speed, power & distance section of our ECOTRIC 20″ electric mountain bike review. Powered by a fairly humble 500 W motor, this mountain eBike offers a top speed of up to 20 mp/h, with an average range of approx. 18-23 miles (throttle only).
Riders can take it even further in pedal assist, squeezing out a few extra miles and getting some exercise. Furthermore, riders have a variety of modes to choose from, including pedal-only, pedalled assist and throttle only mode. Alongside this, the 7-speed transmission system means riders will always have the perfect gear for their situation.
Although there is no confirmed statement on the climbing grade of the ECOTRIC, we were able to find reviews claiming a grade of up to 35 degrees! If this is true, tackling tricky terrain and huge hills pose no threat to this excellent electric mountain bike; putting it firmly as one of our best electric bikes for hills.
All of this potent power and performance, whilst still supporting a max. weight of up to 220 lbs (100 kg)! Please note, variables such as rider weight, terrain, weather, incline, etc. will have an impact on overall performance.

What age/weight is it suitable for?
Whilst ECOTRIC make no official statement on the recommended age for this folding eBike, the recommended heights are between 5’1”and 5’9”. As such, we believe this electric mountain bike most suitable for adults and teenagers aged 13+, due to the power offered and height requirements. Furthermore, the ECOTRIC 20″ also supports weights up to 220 lbs (100 kg), over 4 times its own weight… pretty impressive!
What is the range/distance?
18-23 miles (electric only) – Riders are free to take it to pedalled assist mode and help squeeze out an extra few miles.

Moving on to the battery life & charging section of our ECOTRIC 20″ review and arguably one of the most important. After all, everyone wants a fast charging, high capacity battery to help deliver long range and a powerful performance. The ECOTRIC’s fully removable 36V 12ah Lithium-ion battery results in riders able to charge their battery from anywhere easily. Alongside this, the battery also locks into place on the bike, to prevent loss or theft. Unfortunately, this mountain eBike isn’t fitted with regenerative braking, although this is understandable when it’s sold for such a reasonable price.
Whilst not one of the fastest charging electric bikes the ECOTRIC 20″ does deliver a fairly reasonable charge time of 5-8 hours; still far faster than many similarly priced competitors that take in excess of 12+ hours to charge. Furthermore, the throttle-only range of up to 23 miles paired with charge time also make the ECOTRIC 20″ a viable commuting eBike; alongside also suiting off-road and recreational use. Rest assured, the batteries fitted in this electric mountain bike are all high quality Lithium-ion cells likely to last 3+ years. Unspecified – Whilst no official statement was made on battery protection, it’s safe to assume there is a smart battery management system in place. These battery management systems protect the battery against overvoltage, overheating, overcurrent, etc. Alongside this, manufacturers must adhere to strict standards and quality control, meeting a number of fire and electrical safety specifications.
How long will the battery last for?
For perspective, an average Lithium-ion battery has an approx. life of 500-1000+ charge cycles. As a high quality Lithium-ion battery, riders should expect the latter of 1000+ charge cycles before any faults arise. Even if you were to charge and ride daily, you would still struggle to reach this point in under 3+ years.

Moving on to the design & ergonomics section of our ECOTRIC 20″ review, in which this beastly eBike certainly excels. This fat tire electric mountain bike is clearly made to tackle tricky terrains and conquer hills; alongside including a number of handy features to also make it suitable for commuters. As mentioned previously, the battery is fully unlockable & removable, allowing riders to transport and charge their battery from anywhere easily.
Furthermore, this mountain eBike is also features a fully folding frame, allowing riders to easily & compactly pack-up, transport and store their ride. In terms of intended off-road functionality, the design is spot on; fat tires, high torque allegedly allowing up to 35 degrees climbing grade, dual disc brakes and more. The 7-speed transmission system means that riders will always find the perfect gear for the job.
Excellent ergonomics of the ECOTRIC 20″ also result in riders of a number of shapes and sizes enjoying a smooth and comfortable journey. The seat and handlebars are fully height adjustable, allowing you to tailor your eBike to perfectly suit your height; alongside the low, walk-through frame allowing riders to easily mount and dismount their eBike.
This especially benefits older riders and those with mobility issues, as they no longer have to hoist their leg over a waist-high frame. Furthermore, the frame is fashioned out of a lightweight yet highly durable aluminium alloy, aiding the ECOTRIC in attaining a weight of approx. 51.15 lbs (23.2 kg). All in all, this is one solid electric mountain bike and will certainly get you where you need to go, in comfort and style.

As previously mentioned, the overall quality of the ECOTRIC is excellent, especially when you consider the price. Thanks to the previously mentioned walk-through frame, riders can easily mount and dismount their marvellous mountain eBike; especially handy for the elderly and those with mobility issues.
The lightweight yet highly durable aluminium frame results in a robust yet lightweight ride, weighing approx. 51.15 lbs (23.2 kg). Whilst this is still heavier than most other folding electric bikes, the off-road mountain bike design mean the ECOTRIC must be bigger and badder than the rest.
However whilst bigger, the ECOTRIC 20″ still neatly folds up for easy, compact transport and storage. Couple this with off-road functionality, decent range/charge time and you start to realise just how versatile this folding electric mountain bike is.
The super responsive front & rear disc brakes give riders greater control and precision during sharp, sudden stops. Alongside this, the fat tires also offer increased grip and control on a number of tricky terrains. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again; the ECOTRIC 20″ is a high quality, solidly built mountain eBike at a crazily cost-effective price.

As we all know, everyone values their safety or the safety of their friends with the upmost importance. Nobody wants to risk their life every time they hop on their bike for work, and you don’t have to. The ECOTRIC 20″ is adapted for both roadside and off-road use, truly one of the more versatile folding electric bikes we’ve reviewed.
Alongside this, the remarkably responsive front & rear disc brakes allow for serious stopping power and control during sharp, sudden stops. Furthermore, the ECOTRIC 20″ also features a front headlight with rear reflector strips to help you stay seen and safe during darker days. However, we insist that riders always wear adequate safety gear when riding on the road or at night, such as a high visibility jacket and helmet.
