Welcome to our 2023 Furo X review for this amazing folding electric bike. In this overview section, we’ll briefly cover some essential specs, stats and features included in this brilliant bike. For starters, its weight of just 15 kg (33 lbs) makes it one of the lightest electric bikes we’ve reviewed. This lightweight yet durable eBike further features a fully carbon frame and front fork, keeping it lightweight whilst also supporting weights up to 100 kg.
For some perspective, that’s over 6 ½ times its own weight, seriously strong. Furthermore, all-terrain tires ensure riders will always maintain grip and control when traversing a manner of terrains. Whilst the Furo X certainly suits the on-road city lifestyle, these all-terrain tires give a surprising amount of off-road functionality.
Riders will always find the perfect gear for the moment, thanks to 9-speed Shimano indexing. Alongside this, the Shimano M315 hydraulic disc brakes also offer incredible performance; resulting in riders able to make sharp, sudden stops at a moments notice.
We believe that solid brakes are one of the most important aspects of a roadside/city bike, of which we discuss more of under our safety & roadside usability section. Powered by a 250W BAFANG rear hub motor, capable of propelling the Furo X to speeds of up to 15.5 mp/h (25 km/h). Riders can further modify the top speed via computer to comply with local regulations, should the need arise. However, the real gem of this bike – a fairly remarkable 27.9 mile range (45 km), which is great performance considering the price. As such, we believe this lightweight folding eBike a great, cost-effective choice for commuters; offering ample performance at a great price.
Alongside this, the fully folding, lightweight carbon frame makes transporting and storing this bike a breeze. We have the sensational 36v 8.7Ah Lithium-ion Samsung battery to thank for this great range and incredible charge time, of which we discuss below.
Again, the previously mentioned 9-speed Shimano indexing means you’ll always have the perfect gear for your speed and needs. What age/weight is it suitable for?
Whilst we found no information regarding recommended ages, FuroSystems state the recommended rider height lies between 5’2 – 6’2. As such, we believe this electric bike best suits riders aged 13+, simply due to height restrictions. However, riders can utilise the height adjustable handlebar to best suit their shape and size. Speaking of shapes and sizes, the Furo X supports a maximum weight of approx. 100 kg, over 6.5 times its own weight.
What is the range/distance?
Approx. 27.9 miles (45 km). Riders lending a leg in pedal-assist mode should expect extended range and battery life.

Moving our 2023 Furo X review on to battery life & charging, for those interested. Firstly, the 36v 8.7Ah Lithium-ion Samsung battery offers riders a range of approx. 45 km, whilst taking just 4.5 hours to charge. This rapid charging time really sets this model apart from its competitors. We believe this fast-charging eBike offers exceptional performance for the price; considering a number of similarly priced competitors often require 8-12+ hours of charging. Furthermore, FuroSystems actually fit this bike with batteries sourced from Samsung, the same company producing batteries for Tesla; attesting to the undeniable quality of this fantastic eBike.
Riders can fully remove this Samsung battery from the frame for charging, maintenance or replacement. We believe this feature especially useful, as riders can pack fully charged spare batteries for their ride; effectively doubling, tripling, etc. their battery life and range. However, it’s worth noting that the upgraded version, the Furo X MAX features 36v 10.5Ah 378Wh LG cells and a 500W peak motor power. Alongside this, a greater range of 55 km is also offered, although a slightly longer charging time of 5.5 hours is required.
How long does it take to charge?

How long will the battery last for?
An average lithium-ion battery lasts approx. 500-1000 charge cycles. As a premium quality lithium-ion battery, riders should expect approx. 600-1000+ charge cycles before any faults arise. For some perspective, even if you were to use and charge your Furo X daily, it would still take over 2-3+ years to reach this stage.

Continuing our 2023 review In terms of design, the Furo X follows the conventional modern eBike aesthetic; sporting a fully folding walk-through frame, height adjustable seat/handlebars, handlebar display and much more. For starters FuroSystems cite the X as the “ultimate electric folding bike”, forging the frame from cutting edge aerospace grade carbon fibre. Whilst adopting a somewhat generic design, the X features a number of innovations to give it a unique personality. The frame feels robust, sleek and almost chiselled, with a very modern look. Many competing electric bikes spare the expense when designing the frame, often resulting in a bit of an eyesore.
Currently, FuroSystems have a limited offer including free front/rear fenders, rear luggage carrier, kickstand and complete lighting kit. This kit greatly improves the functionality and effectiveness of your fantastic Furo X and comes completely free (for now). The perfectly located backlit LCD display sits nicely on the handlebars; showcasing speed, mileage, battery life, pedal assist mode and much more. Speaking of pedal assist, riders can choose between 6 modes, each with varying levels of motorised assistance. Riders who lend a leg should expect extended battery life and range, thanks to your hard work.
Easy going & comfortable riding
Ergonomically speaking, the Furo X offers a comfortable and easy ride. The low down, walk-through frame allows riders to easily mount and dismount; perfect for elderly riders and those with mobility issues. Alongside this, riders can easily adjust the seat and handlebars to best accommodate their height. Easily safeguard your battery with the key lock, allowing you to easily lock/unlock your battery housing for charging/replacing. Furthermore, the Furo X is exceptionally easy to fold and transport, thanks to weighing just 15 kg; also making it an ideal choice for short/mid-range commuters. All in all, this lightweight folding eBike boasts an outstanding design and a surprisingly comfortable ride; all at a cost-effective & competitive price.

Can it be used as a regular bike?
Yes – riders have the choice between 6 levels of pedal assist. Those who lend a leg should expect a reward of extended range and battery life.

No – unfortunately we were unable to locate any supported mobile app for this model.
Furo X vs Furo X MAX
In this section, we briefly cover the specs and stats of the Furo X vs Furo X MAX. For starters, the MAX boasts a bigger battery, in turn granting a greater range of 55 km, 10 km more than the X. Alongside this, the MAX further features a higher peak motor power of 500W, as opposed to the X’s 250W. However, this bigger battery does require a longer charge time of 5.5 hours, 1 hour more than the X. Put simply, the Furo X MAX offers greater range and power at the cost of an extra hour charging and a little bit more money; whether its worth the extra is up to you!
Build quality and ease of use
Moving our 2023 Furo X review on to our build quality and ease of use section. If you haven’t realised already, this fully folding eBike boasts an exceptional level of quality throughout the entire manufacturing process. FuroSystems have taken great care with the design, which offers a wide range of functionality for a fair price; alongside remaining aesthetically appealing.
For starters, the aerospace grade carbon frame and suspension fork should give some into the premium quality of materials used. Speaking of premium, the lithium-ion batteries are sourced from Samsung, official manufacturers of Tesla batteries. In fact, the battery is assembled from the very same cells as used in the Tesla Model S, which are definitely difficult to source.
The components and materials used throughout manufacturing this eBike demonstrate a clear desire for quality. Shimano M315 hydraulic disc brakes offer sharp and responsive stopping on demand, especially important for roadside riding.
The Furo X further features an integrated USB charger, the perfect lifeline for any emergency electrical devices. A key lock located on the battery housing helps riders secure and safeguard their ride, alongside protecting the battery. Whilst weighing just 15 kg, this lightweight electric bike supports weights of up to 100 kg, over 6.5 times its own weight; further attesting to the brilliant build quality.
In terms of ease of use, the Furo X folding eBike offers an extremely easy riding experience. The previously mentioned walk-through frame allows riders to easily mount & dismount their ride. Alongside this, the lightweight carbon frame makes folding, transporting and storing this eBike easy and effortless. Safety and usability on the road
Moving on to arguably the most important section in our 2023 Furo X review. As we all know, the safety of riders on the road remains paramount, wherever you are. The Furo X actually starts out extremely well in this aspect, thanks to the integrated wireless turn indicators. These indicators allow riders to safely and effortlessly indicate their turning intentions whilst keeping both hands on the handlebars.
This is a feature we really don’t see enough of, which greatly enhances roadside experience and functionality. The previously mentioned Shimano M315 hydraulic disc brakes offer remarkably responsive braking on demand. We believe responsive and effective brakes especially important when riding on roads where split second decisions may occur.
Furthermore, whilst incorporating all-terrain tires, we still believe this eBike best suits on-road, urban use. FuroSystems clearly highlight this, with both the folding frame design and indicator integration. However, one thing worth noting is that the Furo X does not feature front or rear lighting as a standard, instead requiring riders to add them as additional accessories.
Whilst an option, we still believe front & rear lighting especially important for all roadside bikes and should come standard. Lastly, we recommend that riders always wear adequate safety gear when riding, such as a high visibility jacket, helmet, gloves, etc.

As far as we know, the Furo X ships worldwide and to all major continents, with exceptions for certain countries. Furthermore, FuroSystems state that this model is road legal worldwide, which means no problems should arise from riding this in your region. However, we always recommend that riders double check their local laws and regulations to ensure your region accommodates such forms of travel.
