Welcome to our GoCycle GS review for 2024. In this review, we discuss a number of specs, stats and features included in this awesome folding electric bike. A height adjustable seat, super fast charging time and incredible range are just to name a few. This model is certainly a step up from your average electric bike, offering greater performance for longer than many on the market. However, this does result in a slightly more expensive eBike model. What’s more, riders can get back out on the road in just 4 hours with the optional fast charger, which is pretty incredible considering its 50 mile range.
Suit your riding style with ease, the GS allows you to choose from City, Eco and On-demand modes at the push of the button. Furthermore, you can even set your own custom riding modes, all programmable through the mobile app. Riders can also choose their colour scheme to perfectly match their mood. Moving on to the speed, power and distance section of our GoCycle GS review. Let’s get straight to the point, the GS is certainly made for long distance journey’s; offering a ridiculous range of 50 miles with pedal assist and powered by a 13.5Ah 300 Wh Lithium-ion battery. The beefy 500W motor propels riders to speeds of up to 20 mp/h (32 km) with the throttle alone, meaning you can go even faster when pedalling. With such a light weight of just 16.5 kg, it’s no wonder how this bike can keep going for so long.
The GoCycle GS definitely offers a performance above the average of most conventional folding eBikes; eclipsing many models in charge time, speed and range offered. As such, we believe the GS more suited to long distance riders and serious eBike enthusiasts, as this model is quite the step up from the Swagtron EB-5 for example. As such, the GS is a little more expensive than other models, likely due to its incredible performance and high quality materials used throughout manufacturing.

What is the range/distance?
The GoCycle GS offers a remarkable range of up to 40-50 miles (80 km) in pedal-assist mode. Please note that variables such as rider weight, weather, terrain, incline, etc. will affect overall performance.

What’s really impressive about the GoCycle GS is the rapid charge time of just 4-7 hours. Of course, riders must obtain the optional fast charger to achieve a 4 hour charge time. However, even without fast charging, 7 hours is still an incredibly fast time for such a long range electric bike. This is especially true when you consider how conventional models take up to 12+ hours to charge, whilst not offering even half the range as the GS.
Alongside this, riders can adjust their cycle mode to best suit their style. Extend your battery life with Eco mode, or take it to the next level with “On-Demand” mode. The design is so sleek, you would never even know that an efficient Lithium-ion battery is seamlessly packed within the chassis. Alongside this, the GS further features GoCycle’s own proprietary Battery Management System, protecting the battery from overvoltage, overheating and more.

Super fast charging – Takes just 7 hours (4 hours with optional fast charger).
Battery protection & safety
Whilst there is no official statement surrounding IP and UL ratings, GoCycle have taken care with the physical protection of the battery, fitting it seamlessly within the chassis. Thanks to this, the 13.5Ah 300 Wh battery is protected from a variety of elements, alongside offering moderate water resistance against splashing. Furthermore, the GS uses GoCycle’s own proprietary Battery Management System (BMS), offering protection against overheating, overvoltage, etc. Learn more about Battery Management Systems here.
How long will the battery last for?
A standard Lithium-ion battery has an average lifespan of approx. 500-1000+ charges before any faults are expected to arise. As a high quality Lithium-ion battery, riders should expect the latter of 1000+ charges before their battery begins to play up. Even if you were to charge and use it every day, it would still take approx. 2-3+ years of continuous use before you encounter any issues.

The design of the GS really is something to admire, with a seriously sleek and compact aesthetic throughout the entire model. Honestly, if you didn’t know already, you’d think this was just another bicycle. The battery is fitted seamlessly within the chassis to further complement the smooth design, alongside 3 different colour schemes to best suit your style With a fully height adjustable seat and handlebar, riders of all shapes and sizes are catered to.
This also results in a much more comfortable ride, as you can customise heights to suit you perfectly. This is a step up from most conventional folding eBikes that only allow riders to adjust the seat. As expected, brake levers and display are conveniently located on the handlebar, with the GS boasting remarkably responsive front & rear disc brakes; perfect for maintaining control during sharp and sudden stops. Alongside this, the GoCycle GS also features a super bright headlight to ensure riders stay seen and safe during late night rides.
What material is it made from?
Highly lightweight yet durable injection moulded magnesium frame, rubber air-filled tires.
Can it be used as a regular bike?
Yes – Pick from pedal-only, pedal-assist, throttle-only and many more riding modes.
Does it connect to your smartphone via app or Bluetooth?
Yes – riders can download the GocycleConnect app and get access to a whole bunch of custom features for their eBike. This mobile app is available for both iOS and Android.
Build quality and ease of use
As is expected from GoCycle, the build quality of the GS is outstanding. The frame of this eBike is fully folding and forged from a highly lightweight and durable injection moulded magnesium, alongside the wheels. With an adjustable seat and handlebar, riders of all shapes and sizes can enjoy the power and performance offered by this excellent folding electric bike.
Furthermore, the design of the GS is great; everything is so sleek and compact that you’d never know it was an electric bike, with the battery seamlessly fitted inside the chassis. Riders have the choice between 3 gears, thanks to the Shimano Nexus 3-Speed transmission system. Rest assured, GoCycle take quality control extremely seriously; adhering to strict fire and electrical safety standards and placing critically high standards throughout production.
Safety & Usability on the road
Safety and usability on the road
Moving on to the safety & roadside use of our GoCycle GS review for 2024. After a fair amount of consideration, we believe the GS fairly suitable for roadside use, mainly due to the bright headlight, super-responsive brakes and insane range. The headlight ensures that riders stay seen and safe from the front during darker days; however we recommend you still wear adequate protective gear, such as a high-visibility jacket and helmet.
Whilst the GoCycle GS offers great performance, we most certainly recommend you stay in the bike lane or side of the road; whilst 20 mp/h is a decent top speed, you’ll never keep up with cars and other vehicles on the road. Attempting to ride in vehicle lanes is extremely dangerous and not recommended, especially considering that there is no rear brake light or reflector strip.
Is the GoCycle GS waterproof?
Although the IP rating is unspecified, many similarly competing models offer resistance against moderate splashes of water and light rain. We recommend contacting the supplier. Learn more about IP ratings here.
Restrictions and availability
As far as we’re aware, the GoCycle GS is available worldwide, shipping to all continents with obvious exceptions for certain countries. However, please check your local laws to ensure your region allows for such Personal Electric Vehicles alternatives.
