Creating a comparison and Tomoloo hoverboards review was a surprisingly difficult task, since their website has somewhat incomplete information on no less than 17 different hoverboard models, with very similar specifications, and very similar names. However, their downloadable product catalog does not match this, and the products on Amazon do not match this either!
We decided to create a Tomoloo Hoverboard comparison table based on their website product information as we assumed this would be their most up to date. However, there may be hoverboards for sale at retailers or online which are older models which are no longer listed, or even hoverboards sold under different names, so although we’ve taken every effort to create a complete Tomoloo hoverboard review comparison, our information may still be inaccurate in some areas. Below you can see the specifications of each self balancing scooter from their website so that you can make an (at least partially) informed decision. Tomoloo hoverboard overview
The self balancing scooter / hoverboard industry is a fiercely competitive market, with many manufacturers fighting for dominance. Many of these companies are based in China where production is much cheaper and then shipped to the United States and Europe. Tomoloo produces many highly customizable hoverboards which come in all shapes and sizes. Some are better for offroading with all-terrain tires, some have a higher weight capacity and others are better for kids. Picking the right hoverboard can actually be quite a difficult task, so the aim of this review is to compare and give an in-depth Tomoloo hoverboard review so that you can see which Tomoloo hoverboard is best for you.
To give a bit of a company background, Tomoloo is a Chinese based company which has been established since 2013. All their hoverboards pass the UL2272 standards which are a series of hundreds of safety and electrical tests which were introduced in response to mass product recalls when some hoverboard brands started catching on fire and exploding.
Speed and power & distance
How fast do they go?
Most of the Tomoloo hoverboard range has an approximate max speed of 7.45 MPH / 12KM. However, this will vary greatly based on your weight and what hills you encounter. We have tried to fill in the table above with the max climbing angle and max weight, but not all product variations disclosed this information so as a disclaimer, this may not be 100% accurate, and we do recommend checking with the retailer.
What age/weight are they suitable for?
Despite very similar specifications, there are several Tomoloo self balancing hoverboards which have quite different max weight capacities which range from 75KG to 120KG depending on which model. Be sure to check this out in the table above, and even contact the supplier or retailer verify the max weight before purchasing.
Can they be used offroad?
There are several models which have offroad tires, however, its worth noting that none of the models are waterproof, only water resistant, so proper off roading is really out of the question. You should be ok on small dirt patches, or grassy areas, but in

The Tomoloo charging time varies from 2 – 3.5 hours depending on the model.
Battery protection & safety
Since the product recall scandal where some unreputable hoverboard manufacturers sold hoverboards which caught fire and in some cases exploded, many reputable manufacturers, like Tomoloo, have meticulously implemented safety precautions in their batteries. All Toboloo hoverboards are UL2272 certified and operate at a safe operating temperature of 0 – 40 degrees. All Tomoloo hoverboards also ship with the following, additional battery protections:

How long will the battery last for?
Again, we were unable to find any solid information on the actual life of the battery.

Yes, there is a smartphone app which allows you to monitor the following:

Yes, the Tomoloo hoverboards have awesome RBG lights and you can pick any color you like through the app.

Build quality and ease of use
Are the Tomoloo hoverboards waterproof?
None of the Tomoloo hoverboards / self balancing scooters are waterproof. This is somewhat misleading since on their website, they do state that some of the hoverboards have a waterproof cap:
Personally, led me to think they were waterproof. However, after taking a look at their FAQ, it states that the hoverboards have a waterproof grade of IPX4. This means they are water resistant, but cannot be used in the rain, and cannot be driven through puddles. To be on the safe side, we recommend only using the Tomoloo hoverboards in dry conditions.

Tomoloo Hoverboard Christmas, Boxing Day & Prime Day Deals
We were able to locate a number of updated price charts for Tomoloo hoverboards; a number of them have either stayed the same price for a long time, whereas others have had the price raised dramatically prior to Christmas and Black Friday. As such, speculating any future Christmas, Boxing Day or Prime Day deals is rather tricky. Due to the huge number of Tomoloo products offered, getting an accurate reading on them all is nigh impossible. Tomoloo have offered actual deals on a variety of products before; as such, we believe Christmas & Boxing Day very likely to include a few discounts here and there. However, as we previously mentioned, ensure that the prices haven’t just been jacked up to trick the unsuspecting rider. Although, there is evidence of discounts of Prime Day, we also see that the prices are once again raised dramatically to trick people. As such, we are doubting the honestly of Tomoloo’s business practice, and implore that you double check all supposed deals first.
