The speed and power offered by the Furo eTura was certainly surprising. Typically, these smaller bikes lack motors with power, or compromise on top speed and battery life. However, we were happy to ride this foldable eBike for upwards of 45 km (27.9 miles). Those seeking a reliable commuting eBike should find this remarkable range more than adequate. The eTura is powered by a silent brushless 250W DC motor, with a maximum capacity of 400W; aiding in reaching top speeds of up to 25 km/h (15.5 mp/h), a decent speed for its size.
Riders can also enjoy choosing from 6 levels of pedal assist, perfect for matching your mood. Easily see your speed, distance and battery life at a mere glance, thanks to the centrally situated LCD display. We believe the Furo eTura easily offers enough performance for consideration as one of the best folding electric bikes for commuting. Lastly, please note that variables such as rider weight, terrain, incline, etc. will affect overall performance.

Whilst lightweight, this folding eBike possesses extreme strength. Capable of supporting up to 100 kg (220 lbs), whilst weighing just 12 kg (26 lbs); over 8.4 times its own weight. Whilst the recommended rider age isn’t disclosed, a height of 145 cm – 180 cm (4’10 – 6′) is recommended. Therefore, we believe this ride most suitable for those aged 13+.
What is the range/distance?
Approx. range of 50 km (31 miles), powered by a removable lithium-ion 315 Wh battery; more of which discussed below. Please note that variables such as pedal-assist mode, rider weight/output, terrain, etc. will affect overall performance.

For starters, the 315 Wh lithium-ion battery uses cells sourced from Samsung; one of the leading battery suppliers worldwide. Folding eBikes rely heavily on convenience and mobility, so its no surprise that this battery is also fully removable; allowing riders to easily carry and charge their battery, or lock it into the frame, thanks to the key lock. We were especially surprised with the 315 Wh battery size, as bigger batteries are normally reserved for full-frame eBikes.
We believe that the ultra-lightweight carbon fibre frame helped contribute to this; as a lot of weight was shed through this material choice. The battery further features a 5V USB port for charging your devices on the go. Speaking of charging, the brilliant battery also boasts a rapid charge time of just 4.5 hours. Most entry-level folding electric bikes often require 6+ hours and offer a shorter range. However, we’ve come to expect Furo Systems to deliver innovation and a near-perfect performance.

Battery protection & safety
As previously mentioned, the lithium-ion battery fully integrates within the frame, allowing it to fit snugly within the frame & protect any components. The battery further features a secure key lock, allowing riders to lock their battery within the frame, protecting against loss or theft. Alternatively, riders can also carry the battery with them when not in use. The battery is fully removable, allowing riders to easily transport or replace it. Lastly, many modern electric bikes undergo rigorous fire & electrical safety standards, often having to adhere to UL 2272 standards or higher. As such, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Furo Sierra followed suit; especially considering their IP55 waterproof rating.
How long will the battery last for?
An average lithium-ion battery offers an average of 500-1000+ charge cycles before any expected issues occur. Due to the quality of this battery, riders should expect the latter of this figure before any issues arise. For perspective, even if you were charging the battery, it would still take 2-3 years to reach this point. Riders can also easily source replacements and spares from Furo System’s technical support centre if required.

For starters, the fully folding frame allows riders to easily pack, store and transport their ride; perfect for commuters and adventurers alike. Alongside this, the low walk-through frame allows for easy mounting, perfect for elderly riders, or those with mobility issues. Furthermore, the entire eBike is extremely easy to carry; weighing just 12 kg and cited as one of the lightest electric bikes available. We found this especially impressive, when considering how it also supports up to 100 kg (220 lbs), over 8.4 times its own weight.
The secret lies in the highly robust, durable yet lightweight carbon-fibre frame; a material typically reserved for high-end, full frame electric bikes. The centrally situated display allows riders to easily check their speed, battery life, distance and more; all at a brief glance of their handlebars. However, whilst overall a smooth and comfortable ride, one thing worth noting is the lack of suspension; save for the full-carbon fork. This could be due to its role as a road legal bike and as such, Furo Systems never fully equipped it for off-road functionality or bumpy rides. Overall, the build quality of the Furo eTura is extremely high; constructed with a carbon-fibre frame and cited as one of the lightest folding electric bikes available. Not only this, but the frame offers extraordinary durability, capable of shrugging off some nasty slams without twisting. In terms of battery quality, Furo Systems integrate the same lithium-ion cells as Tesla; sourced from Samsung, world-leading lithium-ion battery suppliers. The 250w brushless motor ensures a silent yet powerful ride, further offering a maximum output of up to 400w, when required. To attest to their confidence in quality, Furo Systems offer a free 2-year warranty with all official purchases; giving you that extra peace of mind when riding.
In terms of ease of use, the Furo eTura was extremely easy to mount, thanks to its walk-through frame. As previously mentioned, the LCD display was conveniently located in the centre of the handlebars, allowing for quick and effortless checking of speed, distance, etc. The lightweight carbon frame folds in just 3 steps, with pedals also folding. Honestly, you could go from riding to carrying this magnificent model onto the train in under 30 seconds. The 6 levels of pedal-assist mean that you always have the perfect setting for your needs, with the top speed even modifiable to comply with local regulations. All in all, this folding eBike is perfectly produced, offering near unbeatable quality whilst also extremely easy to use.

Moving our 2023 Furo eTura review onto arguably the most important section; safety & usability on the road. As we all know, staying safe on the road is extremely important to all riders. Riders will rejoice in the knowledge that this brilliant folding eBike is fully road legal worldwide. Alongside this, riders can also modify their top speed, ensuring that they comply with local regulations.
The eTura further features integrated wireless turn indicators, perfect for roadside use within urban areas. However with cars, we still recommend also indicating with your arm to ensure maximum visibility. Talking of visibility, whilst this foldable eBike fails to include integrated lights, they offer an additional complete lighting kit; currently this comes free with official purchases, alongside a front mudguard, kickstand and 2-year warranty.
For those riding on darker days, we cannot stress the importance of staying seen and safe. As such, we recommend wearing adequate safety gear at all times, including a helmet, gloves, high-visibility jacket, etc. Speaking of safety, the design boasts remarkably responsive Tektro mini V-brakes, allowing riders to make sharp and sudden stops at a moments notice. It’s clear that the Furo eTura was designed with roadside use in mind, as minimal off-road functions were included. An example of this is the carbon front fork, which offers enough suspension to soak up lighter bumps, however struggles a little dealing with harsher hits on uneven terrain. This gives us a pretty clear indication that Furo Systems always intended the eTura to stick to roadside use.
Is the Furo eTura waterproof?
