The Hoverclub Solo is a great, cost-effective commuting unicycle ideal for both experienced and new riders alike. newer riders won’t have to worry too much about damaging the Solo as they would any other electric unicycle on the market.
Whilst certainly not the most powerful unicycle on the market, this model has a price tag that’s hard to argue with; alongside including a number of functional features. For one, integrated self balancing technology results in a much easier and smoother experience for all riders.
Furthermore, 14-inch dual air tires result in added grip and control, whilst also being cheap and easy to replace. Many may distrust this cheap electric unicycle as low quality, however this is certainly not the case. The Hoverclub Solo is UL 2272 certified, meaning that it’s passed a number of rigorous fire and electrical safety tests and standards. Not only this, but the Solo demonstrates vigour and strength, capable of withstanding weights of up to 220 lbs (100 kg) – seriously impressive stuff.
Transporting this electric unicycle is a breeze, simply extend the portable handle and away you go; this nifty little ride only weighs 29.3 lbs (13.3 kg), so light that your kids can carry it. A handy motor lock button is also located in the handle, stopping unauthorised riders or yourself from accidentally starting the motor or riding away. The single 500W motor aids in propelling riders to a max. speed of 7.5 mp/h (12.1 km/h), with a max. range of approx. 12.5 miles (20.1 km).
This cost-effective electric unicycle charges quickly and further features bright coloured head & rear lights; helping you see and stay seen on those darker days. All of these amazing features for an extremely competitive price makes the Hoverclub Solo a must have ride.
In comparison to other competitors, the speed and range of the Solo is fairly lackluster. However, many leading competitors are also priced 4 times higher, so we believe this to be a fair trade. A maximum speed of 7.5 mp/h is actually fairly decent, considering many unicycles & hoverboards don’t even reach 12 mp/h. Should Hoverclub decide to implement a dual motor to beef up their current single 500W setup, this would fast turn into one of the fastest on the market.
However, the 12.5 mile range isn’t too impressive, considering the 30+ mile range demonstrated by some in our electric unicycle Black Friday deals list. Although we don’t necessarily deem it fair to compare the Solo to top-end models; this is a cost-effective ride with ample features and performs as well as you can expect. Thus, we believe it makes an ideal choice for both new and experienced riders.
Max. speed – 7.5 mp/h (12.1 km)
Supports a maximum weight of up to 220 lbs (100 kg), no recommended age. Getting started with an electric unicycle is always a challenge, so we wouldn’t recommend letting kids under 12 ride.
However, due to the low speed, crashes and falls will likely result in minimal injuries. Furthermore, please note that higher weights and other variables such as terrain, incline, etc. will impact performance.
Max. range – 12.5 miles (20.1 km)
No official statement on charge time, however there are unofficial reports of 2 hours and it was noted to charge very quickly.
The Hoverclub Solo is UL 2272 certified. This means that it passed a number of vigorous fire and electrical safety standards before it was brought to the market. Whilst little is known about Hoverclub themselves, we do know that a high emphasis on safety is placed on electric transport devices these days. Gone are the days where your sweet new ride bursts into flames; rest assured that every board you see must adhere to strict safety regulations.
An average rider on flat terrain should expect a battery life of approx. 1 hour and 40 minutes, riding constantly at full speed.
The design of the Solo follows the same course as many conventional electric unicycles. The low height of the pedals have been optimally placed to allow for greater control and movement. An extremely convenient portable handle allows for quick and easy carrying and transportation of your ride – which is especially effortless due to the low weight (29.3 lbs). Furthermore, the dual 14-inch air filled tires allow for much greater balance and control when riding.
Alongside increasing balance, these rubber tires are cheap and easy to replace, should they become damaged. The Hoverclub Solo automatically runs diagnostics and will alert the rider when there is a problem, alongside including a visual aid (flashing green/red lights).
Speaking of lighting, the Solo also features bright headlights, helping you see and stay seen on dark days and night rides. This electric unicycle is packed full of features and when priced so low, extremely good value for money.

No – once you run out of battery, expect to utilise that ever so convenient built-in handle.
No – unfortunately we cannot find any supported/official mobile apps.
Overall, the build quality is fairly decent. Hoverclub have used cheaper materials where necessary, such as rubber air filled tires instead of solid tires. However this also benefits the rider, as they are cheap and easy to replace, should they become damaged. The external and internal frame of the Solo is sturdy and can withstand a number of hits and knocks. In terms of ease of use, the Solo takes a while to get the hang of and is quite a challenge.
With no speed settings or supported apps to offer a tutorial/beginner mode, riders must figure it out for themselves. Experienced riders should have no problem with this, whilst newer riders may find it daunting and in the deep end.
However, the low power output and max. speed mean that it certainly isn’t the hardest ride and you will rarely hurt yourself if you lose your balance. Alongside this, the self-balancing technology also helps lower the learning curve a little.
As mentioned previously, the Hoverclub Solo is fully UL 2272 certified. This means that a number of rigorous and comprehensive fire and electrical safety standards have been met. In terms of road usability, the dual tires offer optimal control on pavement & asphalt, whilst bright headlights increase safety and visibility; the self-balancing technology also results in a much safer ride and leaves less room for user error.
These type of tires best suit solid pavement and asphalt, so off-road functionality is minimal. As such, we recommend to stick to the pavement when riding.
No, this electric unicycle is not waterproof. Whilst there is no official statement on whether or not any water resistance is offered, we guarantee that you shouldn’t test it out.
As far as we know, the Hoverclub Solo ships worldwide. However, please check your local laws and regulations surrounding this to ensure that your region allows for such transport methods. Lastly, we also recommend checking the product listing for yourself and seeing if Hoverclub ship to your location.
Whilst many commuters are already smiling at that price tag, there may be some still pining for additional savings. Whilst price charts show no official price movement from Amazon, 3rd party vendors have had their ups and downs. However, these days the Hoverclub Solo is only available on Amazon.
As such, we believe it fairly unlikely that the price will drop any lower; the current price is already more than fair for an electric unicycle of this standard. However, they may need an excuse to clear out stock or offer a sale, so you never know what will happen.
